My Hedgpeth's came to Missouri around 1837 from Green Counties, Kentucky [the part that became part of Taylor Co., KY]. They eventually settled in the Graham/Marysville area of Nodaway County until 1858 when the itchy feet got them to headed for California ...

We have connections also to the Elliott, Linville, Pickerell [Pickwell], Alumbaugh and Kelly families that you show in the 1850 census on your site .... and maybe a few more ... going from memory at the moment :)

Joel Hedgpeth Sr. 1809-1874 [my 4th gr. grandfather] is said to have been the first Judge in Nodaway County ... but I haven't had any luck yet, in finding any records to prove that :(  

Five of Joel Sr. son's [to make it to manhood] were circuit rider's for the ME South, namely Thomas Riley, Henry Holland, Lewis Johnson, Joel Jr., and William Pleasent ...

Thomas Riley hdpth 1830-1889 didn't quite make it to California, and ended up returned to Missouri to fulfill his duties with the ME South [he was my 3rd gr. grandfather] he died in Atchison County, MO

Henry Holland hdpth as I understand it was a preacher in the Kansas Territory ...

Lewis Johnson hdpth after a few years in California [the Fresno area primarily] ended up moving to the area of Phoenix, Arizona where he is said to be the father of Methodism in those parts ...

Joel Jr. was a preacher in California [primarily in the Fresno area] ...

and William Pleasent hdpth,  I don't know much about yet, I know he was in Oregon for a short spell ... but primarily lived in the Fresno area of California near his father Joel Sr.

would like to find out more about my Hedgpeth's while they were in Nodaway County ...
